8.7. Creating Passwords

You can create global passwords for the system that control access to the whole site. Here's how:

In the Options section, enter a name in the Authentication realm field. This will get displayed in the password prompt dialog.
Enter a filename for the Global password file. The first time through you will need to create an empty file in the folder of your choice. We suggest using the C:\Program Files\Cogent\OPC DataHub\require\ folder. If a filename is entered here and the file exists, the DataHub will require each user to enter their user name and password (as configured below) to access the site. To stop this behavior, you will need to remove the filename here, or change it to a non-existent file.
Click the Manage Passwords button to open the Manage Passwords window:
Click the Add or Edit button to open the Password window:
Enter this information:
User name
Enter the user name, with no spaces.
Auth. realm
Enter the name you entered for the Authentication realm in the Options emtry (see above).
Password
Enter a new password with no spaces.
Repeat Password
Enter the password again, exactly as previously entered, and click OK.
Click the Apply button at the bottom of the Properties window to apply the changes.
